Corvette Racing Wins Le Mans 2011

^^^Me being a Corvette fan, this is a great tribute to ten years of racing the famed French course. 2001 was a special year because this was several months after finishing first and second in the GTS class at the Daytona 24. When winning Le Mans that year, it was fitting that it was for Dale Earnhardt, ironically a Corvette man himself. This is their seventh Le Mans race championship in their class. It's kind of a pitty the team car crashed out and finished 31st overall while the 73 team took the class gold. It's also very fitting that the team won the race in their category in this centennial anniversary of Chevy.

To you Ford or Dodge fans, you'll get your chance to celebrate next year at Le Mans. No worries. But this year belongs to the Bowtie Brigade!

There was a couple of scary wrecks in that race though.

A Vette also won the GTE Am class in the form of the Labre Competition team.

But to me the real story of the race is Audi. Overcoming the other two cars getting destroyed, to beat Peugeot by only 13 seconds, is truly stunning. Especially when you consider it was the in experienced driver line-up who drove like veterans.

Audi's been really strong over the past few seasons in their class. To beat Peugeot by 13 seconds like Corvette did to Ferrari is stunning. There were some nailbiters. I'm just glad McNish is okay after getting punted hard. Did Motors or EuroSport say where McNish's accident was?

McNish's Accident was the one just after the Dunlop bridge still during the daylight. I think you mean Rockenfeller's accident, which was on the run down to Indianapolis.

Yeah. Rock's crash was hard, but McNish's was violent. I'm just happy them people down by the Dunlop Curves didn't get hit by the parts and pieces thrown across. I have no idea what the #54 Ferrari was doing. He just Lepage'd McNish and yet he didn't know McNish was there? What an idiot!

Even though Audi is by far my favorite team and Allan is my favorite driver, I think the crash was his fault. He tried to pass 2 cars in 1 turn and didnt have the space. The Ferrari was already turning in before McNish was there. Allan was just over zealous, especially an hour into the race. Really more of a racing incident than anything else, but Id say Allan had the blame if you had to assess it.


Now, Rocky's crash was the Ferrari's fault. That guy is an idiot.
