2011 Livonia 250 Pre-Race Thread

Pre-Race Predictions from Jeff Klinger:


Pick to win: 76 - Christopher Kennedy.

Early last season, Kennedy showed that he belongs in the AERS. That momentum fell slowly, but he was certainly there at the beginning of the year. With a strong start to his AARO Livonia week, Kennedy looks like a contender in this years running of the Livonia 250, he rolls off 3rd.

Surprises: 85 - Matt Contey, 50 - Jared Kash, 15 - Will Legge

Contey has really stepped up his game so far this year, qualifying 6th in the opening race. Contey has been strong all week with consisted top 10 practice speeds. Kash looks strong as well. The rookie has shown great talent so far with some slick, aggressive passing moves throughout the week. Finally we have Will Legge who has made the jump to the AERS from AYG this year. Legge has been great so far, winning his qualifying race, qualifying 13th and practicing in the top 20's. Legge looks to have a great season.

Most Laps Led: 76 - Kennedy
DNF's: 4

I predict a fairly clean race. Everything so far this weekend has been clean, and I don't expect that to change in the most important of the week.

Pre-race Comments from Deefer, Ritcher, Scransen, and Lapinski

Tyler Deefer's Pre-race comments: "All the drama going on throughout this team has certainly not affected the Nesquik bunch. We're staying on task with our car this weekend. I feel very confident that we can put together a top 5 this weekend. We've got the car to do it."

Fred Ritchers' Pre-race comments: "I think we've got a shot at it [the win]. We roll off 8th, and we'll build on that as the race progresses."

After a reporter asked if previous expirience on the old Livonia layout would be of help, Ritcher explained, "No. Once the race weekend starts, you have no driver advantages. Everyone has a clear grasp on how the track drives now that we're at race day. I don't think it'll matter."

Jalen Scransen's Pre-race comments: "Eh. We haven't been good all week for some reason. We were fantastic in the Shootout, but it's been downhill from there. We just haven't been happy with the car, and our last place practice time shows just that. We have to keep working on it."

Chad Lapinski's Pre-race comments: "I'm nervous as hell, Jeff. It's just like all my other first starts. Afraid that I'm going to screw it all up for my team. But, I think we're going to be alright considering the practice that we had. I am confident in the track, but I don't know what's going to happen when the race starts."
