LIVONIA WEEKEND: WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Each race weekend (or in this case, week...) "What To Watch For", by aaroracing.com writer Daniel Addington will feature in the Pre-Race Thread highlighting what could happen in the race based on past events and trends we've seen. This week, the first race of the year at Livonia.

1. Lots of Lead Changes
- The past two Livonia races have had an incredibly high amount of lead changes. Last year's running of this race, there were 32 lead changes between 17 drivers. While Jonathon Ringer led the field with 74 laps led, there were only 3 more drivers in double-digits in terms of the amount they led. I'd expect around 30 lead changes once again for 2015.

2. Starting in the Top 10...bad?
- If you're starting in the top 10 for this weeks race, you might not have as good of a chance as you'd like. In 2011, Greg Sauer won the 250 from the 29th starting position. Last year, Louis Tellez won the race from the 19th starting spot while leading a mere 5 laps. All of which were at the closing stages of the race.

3. Cautions Breed Cautions
- 2011's running of this race featured 8 cautions, alot of which were sizable pileups. This would be the result of bunching up on restarts. In 2014, there were only 4 yellows, but there were more "secondary" wrecks as in, there were alot of wrecks that happened after the initial wreck which could have been avoided. Drivers will NEED to stay focused and keep themselves on the lookout at all times.

4. Opp, Inc.
- They may not have any wins here, but Opp, Inc. has owned the Livonia Raceway in every other aspect. Todd Bradshaw started on the pole here last year, and ran at the front until he was taken out in the middle portion of the event. Oppenheimer's 99 started 6th, but hovered around 20th before he was taken out in an accident. The year before, Oppenheimer, making his debut, came home with a solid top 5 after leading a bunch of the event. Ricardo Blanco made his first start here last season and led the 2nd most laps in the race with 52 laps led after starting 20th. And then there's Jonathon Ringer who has done everything BUT win at this racetrack. In 2011, he failed to show up due to a contract dispute with his former team Carson Racing before he was signed to the 0 shortly after, but in 2014, he led the most laps (74) and dominated most of the middle of the race and probably deserved to win if Louis Tellez hadn't snuck in late. Ringer led 15 laps in the shootout just a week ago and finished a respectable 9th, however his finish did not reflect that. Expect Opp, Inc. to be a force to be reckoned with once again in this years race.

5. Finishes
- The last couple finishes have seen passes for the lead with under 5 laps to go. With the tight racing and amount of lead changes we usually see, I'd expect the same once again. In the past two shootouts, there was a side-by-side finish caused by lap traffic, which also could play into the finish quite a bit.
