Big Changes at KDM For 2010

Kyle Dobson Motorsports today announced that their team will undergo many changes for the 2010 AARO Aflac Yung Guns season, most notably the manufacturer as a switch from Pontiac to the Chevrolet Cobalt was the first news item to be announced. The team will drop its #84 car from the stable after failing to find adequate funding, and the car formerly numbered 73 will be renumbered to #27. Clothing vendor Fox Head will come aboard to sponsor the car. Cagen Cantrell will drive once again after coming to KDM in mid-2009.

UPDATE: 426 To Supply Engines For KDM

Soon after the #27 Fox Chevrolet Cobalt was unveiled at the KDM press conference, many observers noticed the associate sponsors; NaturalCures.com, Cobra Starship, and Wheatables, gracing the car's quarter panels and deck lid. In fact, many saw it as a mistake, saying a 426 Motorsports car had been rolled in by mistake.

That statement is partially true (the key word there being partially), but rest assured, the deal was no accident. 426 Motorsports owner Vinny Mannucci was also on hand to announce that his team would supply KDM's engines for the 2010 AARO AYG season.

While 426 and KDM both run the Chevrolet brand, the #27 uses the Cobalt instead of the Impala. Thus, building the AYG engines will be a completely new task for the 426 shop.

"They wanted to either just have us make the engines or have a full-on technical alliance," Mannucci explained, "but I told them if they wanted the second one so bad, we might as well merge. I didn't want to resort to that, because they've really built up a good identity as a team, even with all these new changes. If we swallowed them up completely, it would sacrifice that severely."
