2010 AYG: JN Development Empty
PostSubject: 2010 AYG: JN Development   2010 AYG: JN Development I_icon_minitimeMon May 10, 2010 8:49 pm

MANUFACTURER -- Dodge
DRIVERS -- #5 Grant Jacobs, #51 Kyle Korbett, #52 Darcy Lusk. (All sponsored by Consol Energy TM)
OWNER -- Justin Pisani, Kozoro

HISTORY

Last year, JN Motorsports decided to bring along an AMP Energy Yung Guns team. Brian Hensler was the driver. Hensler had a very disappointing season, finishing in the 20's for most of the races. This year, JN Developmental has brought 3 teams to the Aflac Yung Guns. Jacobs, Lusk, and Korbett, who all drove for Carlos Martinez Autosport last year. CMA was run by former AERS driver Carlos Martinez who decided to back out of the 2010 season and hand over his drivers to JN. You would probably think Hensler and Pisani would come along too, right? No, Hensler and Pisani are both running Part Time in 2010 as independent cars who use a lot of JN equipment. Hensler, who is driving the Zaxby's #39, looks to turn the AYG into practice for the AERS, or, if he struggles with the AERS, this will be where he focuses on.

DRIVER PROFILES
#5 GRANT JACOBS
Born in Daytona Beach, Florida the 21 year old has been into racing all throughout his life. He started in Go-Karts at age 10 and won 3 championships and holds his hometown track record with 20 wins in 6 seasons. Carlos Martinez Autosport scouts reportedly had a son who raced in the same league, and told Martinez about him. At 18, Jacobs got a go in stock cars. He would race 3 of 23 races in the Verizon Veterans/Startup League. In those three races, Chicagoland, Bristol and Alberta, Jacobs recorded two top 10's and a DNF. His highest finish was a 6th at Chicagoland, he got 9th at Bristol and got taken out late in Alberta, he finished 34th, second to last. At 19, he completed 11 of 23 events in the VV/SL and recorded two top 5's, four top 10's and 2 DNF's. His best finish was a 4th at the Saskatchewan Stadium, where he led 16 laps. Scouts soon came to a conclusion that Jacobs was a speedway driver. At 20, when the #5 Reynold's Wrap paint scheme was unveiled, many found it surprising that the driver would be Jacobs. After 10 races, Jacobs finished 25th in the points standings with one top 5 and two top 10's. Jacobs needed development, and JN aims to help Jacobs and transform him into a top AERS driver.

#51 KYLE KORBETT
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, the 22 year old has zipped through his racing career. At only age 6, Korbett started racing Go-Karts at his home track. After 10 years of Karts, and 5 championships, Korbett raced Late Models at the nearby Gateway International Raceway. He recorded 5 wins in 16 races to secure the championship as a rookie. CMA automatically saw him as a perfect fit in their team. At 17, Korbett made his way into the Verizon Veterans/Startup League. In 7 races, Korbett notched a victory and 4 top 5's. His victory was at Toledo, in only his 3rd career start. The next year, he was put into a full time VV/SL car. In 23 races, Kyle recorded a win, 14 top 5's and 16 top 10's. He finished 3rd in the points, behind Austin Hackk and at the time developmental driver Tyler Deefer. At 19, he completed his 2nd full time season in the VV/SL. This time around, he notched 3 victories, 8 top 5's and 17 top 10's, but had a disappointing points finish of 8th. At 20, he was introduced into the #05 Lehman's Dodge in the JN Power Pickups. Kyle recorded a win and 12 top 10's in 19 races. He finished 8th in the standings. The next year, in the Short Track Trucks, Korbett got off to a fast start, recorded 5 victories, 7 top 5's and 11 top 10's and raced off to a championship win by 96 points over, Darrel Tresunk in the #54. In 2009, at age 21, Kyle made his way into the AMP Energy Yung Guns. Korbett had terrible luck, and finished 24th in the points standings with 1 top 5 and 1 top 10. If Kyle had a better season, and had much better luck, he could've got a slot in the #36 AERS JN Motorsports car. Also, in that year, he made his AMP Energy Racing Series debut at Michigan. Korbett recorded a 5th place finish, in which he tied Tyler Deefer with the most laps led with 13. Korbett proved a lot that day, however did not perform up to expectations in his #51 Lehman's Yung Guns car, and lost the 36 to Brian Hensler.

#52 DARCY LUSK
Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, the 20 year old rising star has proved that he can run with top competitors at young age. He started racing mini stock cars at age 12, and dominated. Winning all 24 races in the 2 seasons he ran. Lusk, at age 15, took a trip to the Blue Ridge Speedway to watch the 2005 Canadian Molson 400, the 5th race of the season for the AERS. Fred Ritcher, who only lived 50 or so miles away from him at the time, won the race, and Lusk fell in love with stock car racing. Lusk competed at the Ritcher Raceway in Sportsman bodies. Lusk won all 4 championships he ran. At 19, Lusk was invited to drive the #52 Ejuva Dodge at CMA. Lusk agreed happily and awaited his stock car debut. In his rookie year in the Yung Guns, Lusk recorded 3 top 5 finishes and 5 top 10's. This put him into the 2nd position in points at the end of the 10 races. In 2010, the 20 year old, now sponsored by Consol Energy, would like to prove to JN Motorsports that he is capable of being competitive at the AERS level, as he is planned to make 3 starts (UNOFFICIAL) in the 2010 AERS season. Lusk's goal for 2010 is to get a top 3 finish in the Aflac Yung Guns points standings, if not winning the thing. He also would like to get his first career win, as he's overdue for one. 2009 was the only year he didn't win a racing championship in his 8 years of racing, he hopes to get 8 out of 9 in 2010.
