Lester takes 2nd consecutive win, takes points lead; Juveno, Bell content with raceAs if one win wasn't enough, Casey Lester got out front during the middle of the Aflac 200, his sponsor's race, and was untouchable, cruising away to his 2nd career AARO AMP Energy Racing Series victory in only his 5th series start and 4th for Renesse Racing. After some burnouts on the frontstretch, he drove his car back to Victory Lane where he doused his crew and others in Coca-Cola as the crew did the same to him. Lester, after Rafael Grossman told him that "he was right about standing here [Victory Lane] again", replied.
"Guess I'm psychic now or something. Unbelievable. Just had a remarkable car all race. We fell back in the opening laps and Tim [Averell] got to lead for a bit. Good job, buddy; that team needs a guy like you in their arsenal. But, um, the car just became putty in my hands. The handling sorta centered around how hard I was driving it. I wasn't pushing too hard, but wasn't going slow enough to lose spots, y'know what I mean? It just... came to me and we really started picking up the pace from there. The crew nailed every mark they needed to hit and we got outta the pits first. That put us out front and the lap cars weren't too big of an issue. All we had to do was hold up 'til the end and sure enough, we end up here again. And by the way, I'll see if I can make it back here again; my schedule's a bit busy next week.
"
As Lester celebrated in Victory Lane, two almost unheard-of rookies, Preston Bell and Barry Juveno, had respectable runs at Delaware. Juveno hung near the Top 10 and finished in 9th.
"Good enough fo' me. Dat's all I'm gonna say." Well, that's literally all he said to the media.
Preston Bell was much more open to discussion. "Everybody ran a good, clean race and the team held up lahke they needed to. Y'all are doin' a great job so far. We ain't in the best of spots in points, but we just have to keep our heads up an' we'll improve for sure. I have faith in mah guys."
