DAYTONA, FL - A bright, sunny day, much to the drivers' liking, had teams shuffling to get their cars just right. The first of three practices for each group was held at 12:00 PM EST for the AMP Energy Racing Series. The 94 of Jacob Williams topped the first group with a stellar lap. The practice was delayed for 10 minutes, when the 36 of Brian Hensler triggered a five car wreck in the tri-oval. Off of four, him and Ron Mertz made contact after Kimo Talfoa forced 4 wide with Chris Larios in there as well. Mertz got hooked by Hensler, sending those two, along with Larios, Jacobs and Jates, into the wall. All drivers walked out on their own power.

Q-Race #1 First Practice:

4. 3 R. Mertz
5. 90 A. Fisher

The second group to take the track had a different feel for their cars, as clouds rolled in. 10 Minutes in, rain fell, and it continued to fall.

Q-Race #2 First Practice:

1. 80 R. Bandsma
2. 03 B. Simmons
3. 5 C. Anderson
4. 6 J. Woolfolk
5. 66 J. Walter

The second practices will be tonight (4/19/10) at 8:00 EST for Group 1, and 9:30 EST for Group 2.

Ron and Josh Mertz are looking to buy themselves a spot into the field if they do not make it via Q Races.

Jennifer Smith...On her third-place practice time: "I won't remember the names of the people that got faster times, but the things we understand at 426 Motorsports...they could never comprehend. I'm the kinda racer they ain't ever seen before, so if they wanna hit the track, are they ready for more? I'm the kinda racer it ain't easy to forget. I'm gonna make 'em sweat when they see me in the mirror."

On the rumor of the Mertzes possibly buying a spot in the field: "Ron and Josh, the fans all see you now, and they surely bowed in the honor of your presence when you came. The cameras may blind your eyes, but here's the big surprise; the flash never lasts, and you can't pay your way back in. So even if you win, I won't be impressed by the win that you bought."

Yeah baby Eichholtz second fastest in Q1 practice.

On Smith's comment:

Ron: "I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have to buy my way in...I'm the 9-time Castrol Cup Champion.

The names highlighted in Green form Q-Race 1 have made the Daytona 200.

Next to their name is where they finished. I don't usually save the export of the results for Double Q-Races, I write down the results.
