Gerrelds, Glossum, disappointed with runs at Daytona

Among the teams that had a disappointing night at Daytona, Kenny Gerrelds Inc. was by far the worst. Gerrelds, who was a heavy favorite to win, ended up being the driver all other drivers wanted to avoid. Even though Gerrelds got the pole, he still was not happy at all about the start to the 2010 season with his new team. "41st is definitely not where I wanted to end up after it's all done, but I believe I was capable of scoring a top ten. If me an' Lows [Lowrey] didn't work out that plan at the early beginnin', I think we could have both got a plus out of this. As for Shawn, I reckon ya' go ask him about his run, 'cause we haven't talked yet".

Shawn Glossum was also a favorite to win this race, seeing as he won last year. Maybe it was his fathers death last year that gave him the urge to win, because no one saw any push to his driving throughout the 80 lapper. He finished 36th. "Sure this is a learning process, we learned some new things about these Falcons, we got to know each other on each team and had some fun. I don't know what happened in the race, because we were losing the draft after that first yellow, and never did find out the problem".

KGI looks to rebound after a horrid showing in Daytona that got many fans wondering if this new team had what it takes. After Kenny Gerrelds strong run in the top five at Daytona last year, he failed to even get a top 10 finish the rest of the year and fell from 4th to 35th in the final standings. He looks to reverse that next weekend at Salem, starting with the Qualifying Races. After winning Daytona last year, Glossum looked to go two in a row after leading the most laps at Grand Detour the following weekend, but got caught up in a late race wreck. Glossum had mediocre consistency but still finished off the season with a seventh place points finish.

KGI has troubles at Salem

The story continues at KGI.

The new race team continued to struggle at Salem. Both the 14 and 09 failed to make the 110 lap race. Gerrelds went on his side and Glossum was smacked into the wall in each of their Qualifying Races. "It's Salem". Gerrelds explained, "We'll get our bad luck and we'll get our good luck. Salem is certainly not a place to come into thinkin' you're goin' to get good luck. No one was really ready for the weekend at the shop. You could see it. Them boys just weren't excited about headin' to Salem 'cause of the disappointment last weekend. Let's hope for a better Boston".

"Yeah it's tough". Shawn Glossum said, "I came here thinking I was going to have a shot at the title. Guess things don't work that way. With this new Qualifying Race format for races 2 and 3, teams are going to have to earn their way into a locked in position for the rest of 'em. I have no worries, we'll be fine, it's just Salem".

Gerrelds, Glossum both qualify for Boston

Will this be the end of the bad luck?

Maybe so. The two KGI cars both qualified for the 2010 Ford 200 at Boston. Kenny Gerrelds finished 12th in Q-Race 1 and Glossum 11th in Q-Race 2.

"It ain't easy to qualify in this series, and on top of that an dang slump", Kenny Gerrelds explained, "we're still in the works of getting this team back to where it should be and maybe this is the start. Maybe now we get a streak of good luck and get in a few top tens or maybe some wins. This is the start to it. Maybe now we'll get locked in to these here races and score a good points finish, maybe now."

"Kenny told us we were going to have a good weekend at Boston, so far, he's right. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that we're in another race. Thank god it was only one race we missed, if we screwed up Boston, we'd be dead for sure." - Shawn Glossum.

First good run of the year for KGI at Boston

Who would've known before the season started that Kenny Gerrelds Inc. would not have a top 10 finish three races in.

"Wow, what an up and down day. Got collected in a wreck and still managed a clean thirteenth." Kenny Gerrelds said.

Shawn Glossum - "We ran decent at the front, fell back near the end and could never really rebound, all in all good day however."

Gerrelds - "Driving Errors, I hate when I screw up, we were amazing all week and now this..."

Glossum - "We made it, Kenny didn't, teams startin' to fall apart a bit."

Glossum notches first top five of season for KGI

After so far a long season of struggles, Shawn Glossum finally secured Kenny Gerrelds Incoporated's first top five, ever. This coming at the Lowell Superspeedway....

"It's an honor, definitely". "To get the first top five ever. But why couldn't this've happened earlier in the season, and why can't Kenny get a top five? I don't know, we are still looking for answers, I just hope we can find them soon."

KGI Signs Alex Jates to two year contract

Alex Jates has been confirmed at Kenny Gerrelds Incorporated. He will drive the third car for KGI in 2011 and 2012, assuming Shawn Glossum does not leave. Jates will pilot the #1 Buffalo Wild Wings Ford Taurus.

"I've been dancing around teams so far in my career. This is another one, the others I haven't had success with, but I hope to get some with Kenny Gerrelds Inc. in 2011." "It certainly gets all this off of my back. I can now just focus on the 4 team for the rest of this season, I look forward to going for a championship now, and in the future with KGI."
