No problem, I guess. I know I should have asked you first, but I just figured I'd make one for organization.
Several local prospects rumored to ALNT rides? Ex-PTRL drivers? With the first season of the AARO's newest division, the Logitech National Tour, completed, most fans were one-sided as far as their stance on te series went; either they liked it or hated it. Some find a somewhat low-budget development division humorous and entertaining to watch while others would rather see it equivalated to the AAPT, which has had high overall competition and well-funded entries. However, the perk to the ALNT is that it is an entry-level series, which means that any team with sufficient funding and equipment can run part-time or full-time. This gives drivers an opportunity to try and work their way up the AARO ladder to the top division, the AMP Energy Racing Series, in about two years from their entry.
Many drivers around the nation, such as 2-time Clevite National Modified Series champion Beau Phillips, have shown a recent interest on becoming a part of the 2015 ALNT championship fight.
"I love modifieds and all; it's what's gotten me this far in my career.", said the 32-year-old Connecticut native. "But I don't think that it'd hurt to try out stock cars. I've done 'em before." (Referring to his PTRL foray in late 2013) "I have a few teams that've asked me about driving for 'em and with the new AARO league bein' entry-level, you might just see me make a run for the money next season."
Dave Endicott ran part-time in the CNMS with a best result of 7th, coming home 31st in the 2014 standings. The aforementioned Beau Phillips, also a former teammate at Schwab racing in PTRL for a short while, is still battling for his 3rd title with Matt Jennings and Tony Durbin. However, Endicott and Jennings have also shown interest in stock cars... well, in Endicott's case, a return to stock cars.
"A year out of the spotlight wasn't the worst thing [in my year off], but I can't really stay away from the track. Modifieds just don't cut it for me. I look at them as a small-town sorta thing to do. I've always been thinking of the 150+, fender-to-fender, beating and banging type of racing that stock cars have, y'know. It's what gets my blood pumping. The ALNT seems like something good to get into since PTRL is done now. [It] Reminds me a lot of it, actually. Maybe Garry [Schwab] can give me a call and we can work somethin' out for a season over there."
A few other former PTRL drivers have been spreading word that they would be interested in partaking in the ALNT in some way, including Mikael Jones, Jared Green, Rodrigo Baeza, Dalton Forrister, Randall Lyon, Alex Robbins, Bradley Worth and Patrick Johannson. Likely, most would have to contact entered teams for a drive, but it would not be surprising to see a few new entrants into the series in the near future.
