Breaking News:
Brad Simmons Suspended 2 Races
Brad Simmons has been suspended 2 races and fined $15,000 for actions during and undisclosed actions after the Mr. Bee's 250 Sunday at the Canaan Valley Speedpark. Simmons was directly or indirectly involved in 8 of the races 10 cautions. Brad has the option to appeal, but must do so within 24 hours. Simmons Racing released this statement on the situation: "Brad has accepted the suspension and realizes what he'd done wrong. He has scheduled a press conference later in the evening in which he will also formally apologize to his competitors. Ryan Barley, as the only Ford driver in the AAPT, will take over the 03 for the next two races." With the replacement, Barley will have to qualify his way into these next two races, which means Kody Lachner, who sits 31st in the standings, is now locked into the field.

Nathan Smith wins his first career race on home track
[Post-race interview with Jeff Klinger]
" I cannot believe this. Through these years after all of the impossibly tough luck this whole season has re-invigorated my drive to, well, drive. I've always found it ironic how lucky I was to stumble upon the money needed to pursue my dream. All these years I've looked and acted like a fool, remember Nate Knowitall, and with nothing to show for it. 4 years I was away from my home, my friends, and my family. It almost seems wrong to say this, but thank God for last year's lockout. It gave me a much needed, and maybe less deserved, break. Maybe that's why I've had such a breakout year. It's been a huge relief that my dream is becoming my reality. I had 4 years of coming close and this whole season I've proven my worth to the motorsport world. However, as many other lucky drivers here today would also say, none of that matches the feeling you get with your first victory. And on top of that, at my home track. I grew up 20 minutes from here, south on [US Hoghway] 219 and dreamed of racing when I came here to watch a bunch of dunk guys have a demolition derby, I mean, race. It's now my reality. I can now confidently say that against all good judgement I put my dreams ahead of having a "normal" career and leading a comfortable life, and it worked! It is amazing that it took this long to realize that all I needed was the support of those I left to know I made the right decision. The victory is just the icing on the cake."
