The early lead changes were far too many to list in a writeup, thus, you may find them in the results. The 38-lap race ran smooth unti Lap 12 when Carson Crompton pushed up into Daniel Micks and Kenny Gerrelds towards the back of the pack, setting up a chain-reaction wreck that also collected Grant Jacobs, 2010 Talladega winner Shawn Glossum, Ross Lowrey, Matt Contey, and David Lee Bibson. The restart saw the 39 take the lead, and he actually kept it until Mike Johnson dove to his inside and led lap 20. Ross Lowrey took it from him two laps later, 2009 Season 1 ‘Dega winner Brad Simmons swiped it on lap 23 and the vicious cycle of a few lead changes per lap got started again after that. Or at least it would have if Nate Knowitall hadn’t gotten into Siam Rossini at the end of the backstretch and taken Ross Lowrey, Siam Rossini, and Tyler Deefer with him. Lowrey in particular went for a frightening ride up the side of the Turn 3 barrier but came back down on his wheels. Simmons led on the lap 28 restart, and while Wendy Fisher had a few circuits to herself at the front, Simmons was back around her by lap 34 and never gave up the top spot again as he led the 39 and Joey Johnson to the win. | |
