| The tenth anniversary of 9/11. Never do I ever let that go away in my mind. I've had a nightmare about it, to be honest. In fact, let me describe this for you from my perspective. In this dream, I was literally on the ground. I was surrounded by fire, ash, rubble, large chunks of debris everywhere around me. Night was beginning. Oh, my God. Let me tell you. In those few short seconds, it felt like I was in hell in the place the towers fell that aweful day ten years ago on 9/11.
That day, I was just about to head off to school. I saw the images on TV. It was what that reminded me of in that nightmare. I saw the man leap from building. I saw the firefighters raise the flag like those on Iwojima. It was the day America wept bitterly and resolved to avenge this horrific loss. Ten years later, we see it when Osama Bin Laden was killed. Ten years later. This was redemption for us. The dark cloud that surrounded us for these years finally opened and the final page of this dark chapter was written, the book was closed and now, it is forever sealed in the anals of American and world history.
As 2011 comes to a close this Saturday, I ask everyone. How did you remember 9/11? |

| As a great tragedy that shouldnt've happened. As long as we don't b**** about religion, this topic should stay here, although I don't really like it being brought back up. | |

| I came home from school that day and there was a headline on Fox News saying the Twin Towers collapsed. Naturally I was surprised, but it was not until a few days later that one of my classmates told me that "they crashed on purpose!"
All I remember. | |

| I came home to a crying little 1 year old brother and crying mom watching the towers collapse. Terrible day.
Buttttt....I drew pictures of them being hit by planes because I didn't know the severity and was like 7.

| I didn't know what was going on at the time this happened. I was probably in 4th grade at the time and wondered what had happened. When I did find out, I didn't really grasp the severity of it either. I will never forget 9/11.
On another note, 3 days after 9/11, my grandfather bought himself a new van that he used up until last year, when he donated it to a school for them to use for trips.

| I was only about 4 when it happened. I don't remember it at all from my perspective, however my father, who worked in that area of the city (Like 5 blocks away) was running late for work, when as he was driving up, a plane crashed into the tower and he thought "What the hell?" They closed the road he was using to get into the city, and he got out to see the severity of the hit. My mom called and told him what she knew. A "Small plane." Just as my dad said, "No way that was a small plane." The second plane hit the south tower. He then watched in horror, the towers come down. He worked in New York for years still after that, and said everyday it was a struggle to go to work, not far from what he described as. "The worst thing I'd ever seen." | |

| I recall I was taken home from school by my mother who explained what had happened, but I was 5 and did not understand until years later. The shock was long gone then, but it was nonetheless the worst tragedy bestowed upon us by fellow man our nation has seen in my lifetime. BJ mentioned Iwo Jima, which despite the fact that three of those men that raised the flag never saw the states again, I associate with hope, with a feeling of "maybe everything will be back to normal". An odd, hopeless, feeling, but I shall hold on to it nonetheless. |

| I was about 4 years old at the time and I was in the library at school at the time and one of the teachers' husband called the school and told them what happened. They turned the TV on at the library and we all watched it. Probably not the smartest thing to do with 30 4 and 5 year olds there... | |

| as long as nobody spews out the "OMGZ IT WAS BOMZZZZ!!!!" bull sh*t, I'm ok with this.
I was in 6th grade and one of the teachers came into my classroom saying that WTC and the Pentagon were hit. that day was one of three days in my entire life where I couldn't sleep at all. (other two were Dale Sr's death and Wheldon's death)

| I was in 4th grade, we were getting back from music special, and my teacher turned on the tv to tell us a bad event was happening and at the moment that the picture appeared on the screen the second plane hit the next tower. Nobody really understood what was going on, why it happened or anything. I remember we had 29 kids in my class, when the day was over, we had 8, including myself. When we (mom, brother, sister and I got home), my mom decides to put it on PBS to watch Clifford or something and she goes in the kitchen to start making dinner and I was talking to my mom about school. Next thing I know, my brother comes into the kitchen (he was 3), and he goes "Mommy! Mommy! Big building go boom!" They interrupted live television, even on kids channels to bring the coverage of the 9/11 attacks, and thats when I found out the Pentagon building, which I didn't have a clue in the world what the hell was that and what its purpose was, as well crashed into and the 4th plane which crashed in the field, which at time, I remember wasn't known if it was an isolated accident or related to the other 3. But those are my memories from that day. | |

| I was visiting some family in Newfoundland. I was supposed to leave the next day when my mom told me that we couldn't. It turns out that all the international flights from Europe landed in the airport I was supposed to take home and we had to stay for another couple of days. (We drove home) | |
