| I'm practicing on a car on GIMP, and when I use bucket fill, the Deck lid doesn't get covered completely, what should I do? | |

| Can you post a screencap of said decklid? If it's empty in the right spots, you may be able to just fill the rest in with the brush tool. | |

| Going by that, you'd have better luck just filling the decklid in with the brush tool. Worked for me many times. | |

but I'm also afraid that I might accidentally cover up something that doesn't need to be covered (ex: hood pins, headlights, etc)

| Looks like you are trying to paint fill on a jpg...you need to use a PSD and use layers.

but I'm also afraid that I might accidentally cover up something that doesn't need to be covered (ex: hood pins, headlights, etc) That can be solved by making a new layer for said brush tool and putting UNDER all that stuff.

| Any template you download should be in .Psd format, it is a photoshop/Gimp format that allows you to use layers so you dont paint over stuff, you can't paint on a jpg as it is a "flat" image. | |

| That particular flat? You can't. You need to start with a psd template.

but I'm also afraid that I might accidentally cover up something that doesn't need to be covered (ex: hood pins, headlights, etc) You shouldn't need to worry about headlights because most of them are on their own layer, so when you try to paint on them, it doesn't show up.

| It looks to me like you're trying to fill either a shading layer or an overlay. It's hard to tell without the Layers guidebox open though. I have this template and it is in PSD so it should be layered. | |
