The first of the two Qualifiers was very uneventful, however strategy would be the key to the success of the advancing drivers. No yellows flew, and when it was time to come into the pits on lap 33, it was either 4 tires or 2 tires. The drivers who took 2, would go on to finish in the top 12. Jack Jefferson, a one off, who goes unsponsored for the second annual McKinley 200, passed polesitter Bill Sabo on lap 10, where he would stay. Sabo fell all the way back into the 13th spot. Another big surprise, was the fact that the 48 of Lorenzi Rossini climbed his way from 19th to 2nd. He gained about 10 positions on pit road, and he finished it off. He could have won it, if the 30 of Bo VanPelt did not try to pass the 48 with 4 to go, when Rossini was on the 21's bumper. Greg Sauer made his first race in 2010...

The second qualifying race provided some great racing. Jen Smith and Peter Navarro traded the lead several times within the first 15 laps before Smith took the lead up until the pit cycle. Jen would finish 5th. Jacob Eichholtz and Nate Knowitall battled for 5th early on, when the 83 punted the 62 onto the apron and into the outside wall where Eichholtz would lose 15 spots. Eichholtz was screaming on the radio and was talking about going over to the 83 garage and smacking him silly. But Eichholtz wasn't done yet. On lap 47, the 62 turned the 14 of Kenny Gerrelds, who was 18th at the time, into the outside wall in turn 2. The 14 rode the wall and flipped over on his roof, the 66 of Jack Walter also got a piece of this as well. There would be no yellow somehow. Gerrelds got out of his car and is waiting for Jacob Eichholtz in the pits. I smell some sort of brawl. Navarro, after starting third and leading a couple laps, would fade to 24th after the pit stop. Brandon Wares came into the pits 3rd, and beat the 06 out to seal victory for the 01 team.
Two unsponsored cars make the show. Race is Saturday night!

| Contey on Q-Race: "I'm sort of reluctant to start the race y'know? I can't trust that I might wreck the racecar, and that'll be the end of that. This isn't the normal me, this track is scary. I'm willing to put somebody else in that car just to save myself, if the AERS approves of it." | |

| AARO Unveils Improved Car For McKinley 2010
Before the Qualification events at the McKinley Speedway, AARO President David Stone, and AARO Chairman, Sean DeVaughn, along with several other AARO Officials, unveiled the new and improved "car" for this and future McKinley events. No, if you were wondering, it isn't different looking. It looks completely the same. The improvements to the car are non visual, looking at the car from the outside, at least.
The improvements included, stronger, stiffer roll cages, stronger HANS device, added safety features to the cockpit, and multiple improvements to the car body itself, not the sheet metal or the look of the car, the car body.
These improvements also seemed to slow these cars down a couple miles an hour from last years speeds. Thus causing increased handling and not as violent crashes.
Sure, these cars will still go flying when they hit the wall, but at least now, we won't have to worry about any injuries. These drivers are safe, and there's no need to be scared COUGHConeteyCOUGH. If you're going to wreck, you'll be able to treat it like a roller coaster, you won't get hurt.
Following the Qualifying race, drivers Kenny Gerrelds and Jack Walter were asked to speak to the media about the new improvements, seeing as they we're the only two from those Qualifying races who wrecked.
"I really didn't know what was going to happen after that damn kid in the 62 turned me, I knew I was going to be the one to test the new car body out, and quite frankly, I'm impressed by them boys who design' these new improvements. I din' feel a thing when I smacked that darn wall, my head didn' move at all, either. So I give it an A-, we still need to see what it'll do on higher speed wrecks..." Gerrelds said, before he ran off to get the driver of the #62.
Jack Walter explained it like this; "Take Jorge Hernandez's wreck here last year, he flew...I don't know, 20 feet in the air or somethin'. In the old car, your head jerks forward like a slingshot, and you [censored] your pants thinkin' you're gonna die, and when you smack the ground upside down you feel pain all over. In these new cars, you can fly up 50 feet in the air, still [censor] your pants but have fun with it. You now know you're going to be okay, so you really don't have to worry about anything else but the guy who turned you." Jack left and was seen drinking a Bud Light 35 minutes later with Carly Bauffard, who looked mad at him.
So, now you're wondering, will this be in effect for the Aflac Yung Gun cars? And what about those trucks? Well here's you're answer, yes and yes. The truck race went fine with the improvements, and there were some nasty hits.
So on to the rest of the weekend, all drivers know they're safe.

| The McKinley 200 will now be 200 laps, having it at 120 just doesn't make much sense. The AYG race has been increased to 100 laps and the truck race was only 40. | |

| Race length shortened to 120 laps again. 200 laps was just too much as the race last night went caution free for the first 39 laps, and then had 13 cautions following that. | |
